Our mentors are accomplished Black professionals in tech who share their time, knowledge, and lived experience to guide and empower Black girls as they build confidence, explore new possibilities, and grow their skills—one conversation, one workshop, one breakthrough at a time.

MENTOR PROFILE

Ayobami Ojo (Ayo) 

Program Lead, After School & Summer Camp Black Kids Code (Girls)

Ayobami Ojo is a program leader, operations strategist, and technology educator with a strong track record of building and scaling impactful youth programs. As Program Lead for Black Kids Code (Girls) and the After School and Summer Camp programs across all chapters, she oversees national program delivery, instructor coordination, and cross-chapter operations across Canada.

With a background in Computer Science, Project Management, DevOps, and software development, Ayobami brings both technical expertise and operational excellence to her work. She leads the design and execution of coding, AI, and digital skills programs that reach thousands of students annually, building the systems, processes, and teams that make consistent, high-quality delivery possible.

Known for her hands-on leadership style, Ayobami works closely with instructors, operations leaders, and families to ensure programs run smoothly and deliver real impact. Her approach combines strong systems, clear communication, and continuous improvement to turn vision into lasting impact — creating structured, engaging learning environments where young people, especially those from underrepresented communities, can explore technology, build confidence, and develop future-ready skills.

A clear mission drives her work: to change the story for Black girls in STEM by creating spaces where they are not just welcomed, but centred, challenged, and celebrated.

Iyimide Shola-Shittu 

Toronto Chapter Leader, Black Kids Code (Girls)

Iyimide Shola-Shittu is an accomplished engineer, researcher, entrepreneur, and community leader with over seven years of experience across engineering, operations, strategy, and youth empowerment. As Toronto Chapter Leader for Black Kids Code (Girls), she plays a key role in shaping impactful learning experiences that introduce girls to coding, technology, and innovation, while nurturing their confidence, leadership capacity, and sense of possibility.

Driven by a strong belief in the power of representation and access, Iyimide is passionate about helping girls see themselves as builders of the future. With a strong background in engineering and leadership, Iyimide brings both technical excellence and intentional mentorship to her work. Her work is grounded in excellence, service, and meaningful impact, and she is committed to creating opportunities that empower young girls to rise boldly, explore fearlessly, and pursue their full potential in STEM and beyond.
